8 Essential Oils for a Better Night's Sleep

The key is to figure out which essential oils the body prefers. Because everyone is different, and oil that may transport one person to a dreamland may have no effect on another.

Sometimes it's just a matter of trial and error to locate the right oil. However, life will never be the same after discovering the magical combination.

It is very much a difficult thing for chasing kids, with running a booming business along with keeping the household life together. With such kind of sleep, it is difficult to stay fresh every day with all the activities circulating around. Hence, to combat such a night routine, there are numerous essential oils for sleep.

8 Essential Oils for Sleep 


Surely not surprised to find lavender at the top of the list. Most people are aware that lavender is linked to sleep, but few are aware that this has been widely researched and that its usefulness is more than simply an Old Wives Tale.


Vetiver essential oil is extracted from the plant's roots. It smells rich and earthy, and it's my go-to oil for helping my brain "shut off" for the night. It took me a long to get used to the scent, so if the new vetiver, consider combining it with a "lighter" oil like lavender or roman chamomile. 

Roman Chamomile

The calming, soothing, and relaxing effects of Roman Chamomile essential oil are well-known. It has a gentle floral aroma and is perfect for creating a relaxing environment in the bedroom. 

Ylang Ylang

Instead of trying to express it out loud, I'm grateful I got to type it today. When I try to pronounce it, I honestly look like a dog with peanut butter stuck on the roof of its mouth, but ylang-ylang is a fantastic choice if wanting to increase the quality of sleep. It has a floral scent with a fruity undertone. 


Since the first bottle I opened, I've had an odd attraction to bergamot. Bergamot oil is extracted from the rind or peel of citrus fruit. Most citrus oils, such as grapefruit and wild orange, have a stimulating impact, but bergamot is an exception. It's vibrant while also soothing. It's one of the first things I turn to when I need some "emotional balancing," and I use it in every sleep blend I make. 


Sandalwood is one of my favorite woodsy oils, and it's no exception. It's a more expensive oil, but a little goes a long way, so I have always it on hand. 


Marjoram essential oil is not only wonderful for muscles and joints, but it also excels in creating peaceful sleep. The benefits of essential oils go far beyond that! 


Cedarwood essential oil has an earthy, woody scent that I enjoy. It's one of the first things I grab for when I need to unwind after a long day. I prefer to put it in my diffuser or apply it topically. It goes nicely with lighter flower oils, but it also works well on its own.
